Cottage Musing ~ Week 6

"Unless the Lord builds the house,

its builders labor in vain.

Unless the Lord watches over the city,

the watchmen stand guard in vain.

In vain you rise early and stay up late,

toiling for food to eat--

for He grants sleep to those He loves.

~

Blessed are all who fear the Lord,

who walk in His ways.

You will eat the fruit of your labor;

blessings and prosperity will be yours."

Psalm 127:1-2 & Psalm 128:1-2

~

I just recently had a modification in my job...I am now working full time as a realtor. Well, we all know how the real estate market has been going recently.

I was working as a pend-to-close agent for our real estate team and received salary plus bonus' for the past year to weather out this storm.

I remember before the pend-to-close agent position how I strived to work beyond the normal hours, working feverishly to make-up for the slowdown in the market...pay is commission only.

This time...I will not work in my own strength.

~

I have learned the above passage and have learned it well. :)

His strength, not mine.

His hours, not mine.

His provisions, not mine.

Praise Him that I have learned this lesson and have a renewed trust!

Good morning...I just read your post with the photos of the milk glass basket and wanted to ask you about spirea - is it a bush and very fragrant? My daughter just bought a house in Ohio and has a row of beautiful bushes that were so fragrant and I (the expert gardener that I am!!)thought they were type of lilac.

And the milk glass basket is beautiful!! Grandpa did well - isn't it funny how we reach a certain age and some things bring back wonderful memories. I always liked my mother's milk glass, but never bought any of my own - now i have hers and my own collection!!

Thanks for the comments you left...I am also a fan of Susan Branch's newsletters as well as her book (I own them all!) If you haven't bought any of her books, you must go to a bookstore and peruse them - Each season I re-read them and it is almost time to pull out her SUMMER book! She is so talented and never picked up a paintbrush until her adulthood!!

Enjoy your day, the sun is shining in Central New York and it is beautiful!

Isn't it amazing how freeing it is when you feel at peace with the direction you are going and trusting in Him? I love this post.

You have a right attitude about your job and your daily walk with the Lord. "His strength, not mine.
His hours, not mine. His provisions, not mine." Keep trusting Him, sister.

In ourselves, we become very anxious under the pressure of providing for our family but when we put it all in His hands,He will provide.

What a beautiful post Carolyn...I have been working in vain as of late myself. Spinning, spinning, spinning and getting no where because I lost my footing. He has given me so many have gentle reminders to return to HIM first and yours has been a beautiful one. Have a blessed week and good luck in your new job. God will continue to provide for all your needs. Patty
