Betsy McCall Paper Doll Day! :D

It is a rainy, rainy day!
That's okay... I love the rain!  :)

A time to come in from outside and spend some time indoors...

Maybe...
  • snuggle up with a good book
  • sip on a cup of hot spiced tea
  • wrap in a big wooly sweater
  • have yummy beef stew simmering in the crockpot for dinner tonight
  • children play quietly with crayons and coloring books
  • classical music play quietly in the back ground
  • time for reflection and pause in prayer of thanksgiving
What do you do on a quiet, rainy day?
Any ideas to pass along?

Since it is a rainy day, let's play with paper dolls!!!  :D

Betsy McCall Paper Dolls....they're the sweetest as they bring the sweetest memories!  :)

Today's paper doll features Betsy from January 1953...isn't she adorable?  The little story is sweet too!  Click on the above picture to see it enlarged to read the story and to also print and cut out your paper doll for your little girl or granddaughter!  Please don't hesitate to visit the above website for more paperdolls!

Hope you have a wonderful, rainy day....I will be spending a quiet afternoon with my scissors cutting paperdolls for two special little granddaughters who love to come visit Gamma!  :)
(I have an update on my job interview...coming shortly!  :)  A BIG thank you for all those who prayed!)

Hi Carolyn..I'm so glad we connected, we sure think alike. I noticed in one of the little boxes here that you loved the clocks that make the bird sounds..me to and I have one and every time, I stop to listen, love it! I love the sound of your day here, I do things a lot the same..love the crock pot going smelling up the house and I love to sit under a cozy blanket and read. I remember paper dolls like that too and I wish kids still loved playing with them. I love to bake on rainy days too..home made bread or a goodie! :D

Does rain in the midwest mean rain for the East Coast soon? :(

It is cloudy today ... I like grilled cheese and tomato soup to cheer me up!

The paperdolls are adorable.

We had a rainy day today, in fact that is the title of my blog post! I had a lovely morning reading and tidying and then this afternoon we made a lot of mess with paint!

I LOVE the little paper dolls! I used to play with them as a little girl...so many fond memories! We've had rain here today too, but not the nice quiet kind...tornado warnings, thunderstorm warnings...and wild wind! I don't like that kind of rainy day!
I enjoy playing with my little boy on a rainy day...we make cookies, build legos, do puzzles, read books and so much more. I love it when it gets closer to the holidays..we do so many fun crafts together! :)
I am thoroughly enjoying my crockpot and I love how the handles lock down too...prob my favorite feature! (well next to that cute little name tag holder! lol)

Such a wonderful memory reminders!
So glad you are sharing these with your grangirls. Alot of young girls do not know about paperdolls.
I've been out of touch reading blogs lately, so excited to hear about your job update.

Oh boy - did this ever bring back memories!! I LOVED Betsy McCall - did you ever try to make your own clothes for her?

My absolute favorite thing to do on a rainy day is number one on your list - snuggle up with a good book, with a fire in the fireplace. I also like to listen to music, light candles, and pop some popcorn!

Have fun with your little precious ones, Carolyn!

GOD BLESS!

We got a GOOD rain today too, first time in several months. I love the rain, listening to it fall, especially when I am crawling into bed. My kiddos and I like to sit on the front porch, wrapped up in a blanket, watch & listen. They were requesting hot chocolate to go with it today. Fit right in! :) LOVE the paper dolls too. I remember them so well. My daughter has the more modern version. Wooden dolls with magnetic clothing. I love to play either with her. Keeps me young at heart and she's still my little girl!
