Letters...a lost art?

Is letter writing a lost art?
Does anyone write letters anymore to their loved ones and friends?
Does it take too much time to do so?

~
I don't think so!  I love to write letters!

Just a little something for my dear one to open the mailbox and
be pleasantly surprised!

I enjoy thinking I did some little, bitty something
to brighten their day!  :)

I usually add a little tea bag just to make it a little bit more fun!
Sometimes if I have a little more time, I will add a pretty little recipe card with a favorite recipe!
~

Hoping you are having a sweet, pleasant day!  :)

I am afraid it is becoming a lost art, along with making a phone call. I guess I'm from ole' school, but I am not fond of texting. I do it; but not fond of it. Such a sweet - thought to include the tea bag or recipe.
Such a wonderful post.

I like to send a receive letters and notes too. When I owned a gift store, the older generation was the one that bought tons of greeting cards and stationary. I'm afraid the younger ones send emails.

Just a thought. Think where the world would be if it were not for the letters the Apostles wrote to the church.

Susy, as I was writing this post, it did help me in the lines of thinking a little deeper....thinking that the Bible is the most beautiful letter ever written! The love letter to us from God! :)

Carolyn ~ Yes, the kids today look at you like you have a rock in your head when you suggest a note to someone. Our boy said, 'I can't see wasting money on a card' ... but that changed AFTER he met a girl.

I love letters ... & send them.
Have a great week.

Karen, I am not fond of texting either...only use it if it is an emergency message such as a change in plan, running late, etc. :)

Carolyn, I think it has become a lost art. I love writing letters to my family and friends. I also love receiving them! I love the idea of including a recipe or tea bag-I might have to try that!!

Oh Carolyn you are so right! I the love letters that my Grandparents wrote during WWI and I love reading them! Think of all the things I would not know about them if the letters did not exsist! My cousin and I make a effort to write each other....to go to the mail box and find a hand written letter is such a ray of sunshine!
I truly hear what you are saying!!

Hi Carolyn,

I can't remember the last time I wrote a letter. I've mailed cards with a few personable words, but I don't consider that letter writing.

Perhaps it's different with most guys because a handwritten letter seems (to me) to be a very intimate and personal act. I'm not sure what I'd do with a tea bag or recipe; I'm not very effective in the kitchen.

I wouldn't respond with an e-card (although I'd be tempted). I would probably call them to say, "thanks". If I didn't call, I would send them a Thank You card.

But I understand the messge you convey in this post, giving of myself to others. That's something which I need to work at by not allowing my male ego to limit me from being personable with others. Not being intimidated at the thought of being known. Being comfortable with my identity to show someone I care about them.

Blessings and peace.

The most letter writing I do these days is birthday, sympathy and thank you notes. Hope those don't ever go out of style!

It is sad. Believe it or not, the kids today can barely write cursive...that is becoming a lost art. Everything is computers and texting. I love a hand written note, I have saved a lot of special ones.

My sister in law writes the loveliest cards and will pop one in the mail for no reason. They are such a treat to receive. I wish I was more disciplined about sending out notes in the mail. Patty

Hi Carolyn, So very nice to meet you. Yes, I love to write letters and I enjoy pretty notecards. I often tuck in a fancy hanky or bookmark. You have a lovely blog and I have enjoyed my visit. Blessings to you this day.

HI Carolyn! OH, this is such a nice thing to do! We don't get letters anymore - just emails! I have taken on sending cards to the visitors that come to my church and if they return, it's nice to know they appreciated the hand written card.
It's a sweet act of love and kindness to take the time, Carolyn, like you do to write a letter and to pop a tea bag in! :) OOH, I've not seen that flavor- I'll be on the lookout!
Thanks for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Hi -

Interesting observations.

I, like MTJ, do still mail cards with personable notes. I also cannot remember the last time that I wrote a letter.

It is appreciated that you continue to find value in the process.

How we think alike! I do the same! and for the same reason..to brighten a day with a touch of PERSONAL kindness.

I recently started what "I" call a continuing letter with my g'children. I write a paragraph and send it (maybe even draw something to illustrate) then send on and they have to answer any questions and add their own note to the SAME page and mail back. We plan to do this till the envelope is too fat for mailing! A new FUN take on letter writing..it is NOW indeed an ART.

I've enjoyed looking over your blog very much~
